Summer Reading Challenge 2020

June 20, 2020 in Bookish

The summer of 2020 might not be like the summers we’ve loved in years gone by but we can still have a good time. And if you love reading, then I’ve got you covered! Starting today through to September 22nd, I’m inviting you to participate in my summer reading challenge.

There are 25 general and summer-themed reading prompts that will let you escape real life, at least for a few hours. You don’t need to complete all 25 prompts – just do whichever prompts speak to you and have fun with it!

Reading Challenge Rules

The challenge runs from today (20th June) all the way through until the 22nd of September 2020.

You can choose any book in any format to meet the prompt – it’s entirely up to you!

Each book can only count for one prompt. So if it meets multiple prompts, you’ll need to choose one.

You can read books in any order.

Feel free to share your progress on Instagram stories using the bingo graphic below! (If you do this please give me a tag @happilyeverhay because I’d love to see how you’re getting on!)

This is a really neat idea. I love the bingo feel of it. A good way to get reading and to discover new books. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my goodness, this challenge looks like so much fun! I don’t typically participate in challenges, since I stick to a pretty strict TBR, but I might at least take a few cues from this so I can get creative with my reads for the rest of the summer. Thanks for sharing this!

No problem Stephanie, hope you have a great summer of reading! 🙂

I LOVE this idea! Works really well at the moment seeing as we have so much time inside. Think I might have to give it a go. Any good suggestions for any of the catagories?

    • Hayley July 23, 2020 at 9:19 am

Oooh thank you Meera! I have a lot of suggestions haha. The beachy/watery/summery ones all tend to be similar so some of the books that I considered for those prompts are Beach Read by Emily Henry which is a romance then for thrillers there’s A Stranger on the Beach by Michele Campbell, Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman, The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall and Conviction by Denise Mina.

I’m loving graphic novels lately so my recommendation for that would be either Lumberjanes (about a summer camp with strong fantasy elements) or The Woods (about a school that winds up on a dangerous planet with a strong sci-fi vibe).

I’d have to up my reading game, to get all those in, but I like a challenge. I might give it a try.

    • Hayley July 23, 2020 at 9:19 am

      Good luck Adam!
