September 2019 Favourites

October 8, 2019 in Lifestyle

Guess who’s getting married this month?! This girl right here! That’s right, September is over and it’s officially wedding month – eek! We’ve already started looking forward to what’s ahead of us: our wedding day, our honeymoon to Disneyland Paris, Mini’s 2nd birthday and of course, Christmas! But before we focus too much on the future, let’s take a look at the things I loved last month.

Chessington World of Adventures

The biggest highlight of September was our little mini break to Chessington World of Adventures. It was a lot of fun but super exhausting. We stayed at the on-site Chessington Safari Hotel which was amazingly themed and included loads of guest perks – we even got to meet the Gruffalo! In terms of fun in the theme park, our faves were the Room on the Broom walk-through attraction and seeing all the animals!

Aaaarrgghh Spider by Lydia Monks

We’ve been reading Aaaaarrgghh Spider to Mini for a few months now but it’s become a favourite this month because he’s started joining in. He now says “aaaah spadah!” which is as adorable as it sounds. He also now has a pet spider that he adores – a massive garden spider that lives just outside our living room window!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to read this but hey, I’ve finally read the Cursed Child!! What a wonderful story to carry on the magic of the Harry Potter series. I love storied that champion friendship and love – and who doesn’t enjoy a good “time-travelling has consequences” theme!

One thing I will say is that I’m glad I read it rather than seeing it performed on the West End. Some of the darker, more immersive scenes would have overwhelmed me. For one, Dementors are ridiculously scary! And then there was one scene towards the end where they have to watch a pivotal moment unfold without interfering which absolutely broke me. I would have been a teary-eyed mess.

The Circle

Last but definitely not least is the return of our favourite reality show, The Circle! If I’m honest, it doesn’t feel as great as last year’s but we both absolutely love Tim. But then again, who doesn’t? He’s a national treasure!
