Happily Ever Homebody is a blog about joy. It’s largely a book blog because I find a lot of joy in the pages of a good book. But it’s also about all the other things that bring me happiness.

I think that Brené Brown said it best:

“Joy comes to us in ordinary moments. We risk missing out when we get too busy chasing down the extraordinary.”

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do here. By documenting my own happiness in the small everyday moments, I hope to inspire you to do the same. To embrace what makes you smile and to find happiness within.

So here are just a few things that bring very real joy to my life:

About Me

Before we begin our joy journey together, you probably want to know a few things about me.

Hayley @ Happily Ever Homebody: a UK Book & Lifestyle Blog

Hello, I’m Hayley and I’m a homebody. *waves awkwardly*

I was born in the spring of ’90, which means I am now officially in my 30s. To some folks on the internet, this makes me a dinosaur. But honestly, I still feel youthful despite my rapidly greying hair…

I live on the Dorset coast of England with my husband, 3 year old son and guinea pigs. It’s a big change of pace from London, where I lived for the first 27 years of my life, but I like it a lot. (I’m also fond of the fresh coastal air. It’s great for my asthma.)

If you’re into personality types, I’m an INFP (aka “the Mediator”) and a 6w5 (aka “the Guardian”). Basically I’m a BIG introvert!

I’m an egalitarian which means that I strongly support equality for ALL. As a result, my biggest frustration in life is how hateful, intolerant and uncompassionate other people can be. This is why I often disappear from social media for days or weeks with no warning. (It’s self-care, I swear!)

Although this blog is about the happy stuff, I’m not exempt from life’s problems. I suffer from endometriosis as well as anxiety (generalised and social), depression, asthma and joint inflammation. Some days are a real challenge. And I’ll admit that it’s not always easy to see the little moments of joy when you’re fighting against your body. But that’s part of the reason why this journey is so important to me.

Just here for the books? Don’t worry, I got you. Here are some bookish facts about me that you might be interested in.
